The Fireplace

We had a new addition to our pleasures at Popi's this year; especially since the mornings/evenings are somewhat chilly and sometimes damp this time of year. Don had never used the fireplace in the gathering room before. We had generated a large amount of scrap from the roof projects as well as created a large pile of punky beyond use hand hewn lumber. We put the obvious together and decided to try out the fireplace.

After inspecting the chimney we lit a fire the first evening here. During the entire 12 day visit, the fire was never been completely out, there were at least embers left to start the next one. The warmth has been appreciated by travellers staying overnight, diners sampling the great food here, this work party (gang of nine) and Don. One of the kittys also discovered the warmth of the hearth and was frequently found sitting in front of the bricks on the right hand side when the room is quiet.
